Carol Ross Bio
Carol Ross, founder of Carol Ross and Associates, LLC, is a business and personal coach, organization development consultant, and writer with over 20 years experience in the telecommunications and energy industries. She enjoys working with intelligent professionals to become more effective leaders, to increase their confidence, and to bring more of themselves to work. Her clients include Avaya, Celestial Seasonings, Nelnet, and Boulder Community Hospital.
As an internal organization development consultant for Lucent and then Avaya, she created a variety of programs, with goals ranging from increasing the retention rate of valued employees to building a culture of appreciation through innovative rewards and recognition to strengthening the sense of community among employees.
Carol understands how companies work from the ground up. Her beliefs about what is possible in the workplace stems from her experience as an engineer and project manager inside large companies. Carol supervised unionized technicians, led teams of software developers, and worked on improving business processes for telephone billing. She worked in nuclear power plants for Exelon, a Chicago-based energy company, as well as software research and development groups within Telcordia, U S WEST, Lucent, and Avaya.
Carol loves coaching for what it brings to her clients' lives-a safe and sacred place to explore what matters. She is creator and founder of a nationally recognized educational forum, The Coaching Studio-twelve minute demonstrations of coaching by different coaches, followed by a debriefing with the audience. Her work to spread the Studio concept has resulted in coaches holding Studios in over a dozen cities across the US and coaches in another dozen countries around the world interested in public coaching demonstrations.
She enjoys writing about transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary and is a regular contributor to HR.com, a website for HR professionals. Her article, "Reflections of a Laid-Off Worker," was honored as "Best of 2003 Features" on HR.com. Her aspiration in writing is to be on Oprah's refrigerator-to write articles about life and business that are compelling enough to post on one's refrigerator.
Carol has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an M.S. in Operations Research from Northwestern University. She has achieved the exclusive designation of Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), granted to less than 10% of professional coaches. Carol received her training from The Coaches Training Institute, one of the oldest accredited coaching schools in the world, known for its rigor and depth of teaching. She retains the International Coach Federation (ICF) credential of Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and is a board member of the Boulder, Colorado chapter of the ICF.
Carol lives near Boulder, Colorado with her husband and two school-age sons. Email Carol at carol@carolrossandassociates.com.
